Money camp: Stocks, Credit, Cryptocurrency

This is the most fun way your kid will learn about finance & all things money. Taught by college students who’ve worked in finance or are finance majors. Learn about managing expenses with a debit card, credit cards, the stock market, and even cryptocurrency. Every session has a new hands on activity where kids will learn about a new concept while actually learning by doing.

What to expect:

  • What are debit cards and credit cards and how to manage them.
  • Expenses, wants, needs, investments, and savings.
  • Taxes - what and why.
  • Learn about the stock market and about trading.
  • Cryptocurrency - learn about why this is relevant and do a simulated cryptocurrency trading competition.
  • How to make money.
  • Participate in simulated stock competitions with your club peers.

Meet the counselors

Deven Patnaik

I study finance and computer science at NYU Stern School of Business. I learned to invest in cryptocurrencies and the stock market in high school, and I know how fun it can be to grow your money for the first time. In this club, kids will learn the basics of making and growing that money, but also how to make that money last. Understanding value, managing risk, and navigating the credit system are skills the kids will use for life. Kids can look forward to investing in a simulated stock market with a twist. They will leave understanding which strategies worked and why. The finance club is an exciting way to kickstart your investing journey.

  • A amazon link with the supply list will be provided 3-4 weeks before your camp start date. Some camps do not need supplies and some camps will need supplies.

What makes clubba camps special

  • Our camps are fun and interactive. They are led by counselors who actually have a passion for and a skillset in the camp theme. We focus on creative camp themes and relatable, energetic counselors. The team behind this founded virtual after school clubs on the main clubba site here, where you can find more info about what our process is.
  • We keep our camp group size intentionally small with groups of 5 kids in each camp.
  • Creative activities in each session.
  • Daily post-session follow up emails from your kid’s camp counselor letting you know what happened in the session and 3 questions to ask your kid so you can be impressed by what they created and by what they learned.

How to participate:

  • A few weeks before your camp’s start date, you will receive a zoom link, an intro to your camp counselor, and your supply list via an amazon link to make it easy to buy.
  • Each session is 2 hours and we emphasize no parent involvement during the session. This means we keep your kid creating and doing activities while you get your work done.
  • They’ll be movement breaks in each session. What does this mean? The counselors will do 5 minute breaks getting the kids to do things like a quick dance move, jumping jacks, or fun icebreakers.
  • The camps are very social. Counselors have a goal to do many icebreakers and games with kids so the kids can become friends.
  • Each camp is divided by age group so your kids will be with their age group.
